big sprawling
designed to impress
not to live in
history was made there
apparently
but to me
it isn’t even a photo op
merely a symbol
of promises unkept
of hopes betrayed
needs ignored in favour of profit
not for progress
I’ve seen it from a distance
that’s close enough for me
