Sneak Peek February 2019

A quick look back before the peek – my TOpoet.ca following is up to 305 maybe I’ll get to 350 by the end of the year. Also the jump in WordPress hits has remained consistent when I stopped the auto link to Tumblr & replaced it with Google+. India now takes the lead in the number of hits, with US, Canada, Ireland, South Africa (!) rounding out the top five.

Twitter is up to 212 followers thanks to more self-publishing entrepreneurs following me :-). Tumblr up 217 – even with their community standards I’m still getting hetero porn sites trying to follow me. Some are moaning about the ‘death’ of Tumblr merely because it is no longer a convenient site for uploading erotic to explicit sex pics. I see are fewer of such pics but they are still there.

So far, no such issues with WordPress. The serialization of Coal Dusters continues with 76,600 words, 40 chapters, so far; with at least 51,000 words (not chapters) to go. I say at least because as I edit things expand. I’m into the second nanowrimo portion & as I work on it I see where I left space for bridging scenes. So I’ve been creating whole new text to connect things. I like what is happening. I’ve also made a PDF file of Book 1 – $1.99 for anyone who wants to have the the first half in one piece (paypal.me/TOpoet). At this place I might have it done by summer.

WordPress photos are now Mondays: suitcases – I want to travel more & one way of getting that energy out there is with suitcases, right? Wednesday is texture – fabric, brick, shingles, wood – the feel of life; Thursday will continue to be random pairs; Fridays is doors – even cast-off doors are openings to a future.

Otherwise February is a routine month – no spoke-word shows to anticipate, no plays on the horizon though we’ll be ordering some tickets soon. Looking forward to Little Shop of Horrors at Stratford & Mae West’s Sex at the Shaw Festival this summer. Good news for my visit to Cape Breton: not only dot hey have a well-organize {Pride week they also have a Starbucks!

Stay In Bed

it seemed like a good idea

at the time everyone was gung-ho

until they realized

they would have to do something

to make it happen

expecting me to do it all

was part of their plan

not mine

sure I thought it was a great idea

but I’m not a one man show

as much as I’d like to be

and as much I as I know

I would be better person

for being willing to do it all by by myself

I’m not going to even try

when that become clear

the energy began to wane

the idea didn’t seem so wonderful

getting active

making things happen

isn’t such fun after all

why can’t someone else

do all the work for us

while we sit back

and enjoy the results

the rewards should be ours

for the thinking

thanks to your doing

thanks to someone being

consistant and eager

to take each demanding task

and fulfilling them

to our specification

faced with having

to do it ourselves

we grow diffident

disinterested

disenchanted

while looking for the right person

to blame

to save face

picking up the rake the shovel

is such a bore

makes us want to just stay in bed

for another half hour

maybe this’ll blow over

maybe the next fast flash of inspiration

will require even less than thinking

Sneak Peek January 2019

A quick look back before the peek – my TOpoet.ca following jumped to 298 maybe I’ll get to 300 by the end of January. Twitter is up to 210 thanks to more internet entrepreneurs following me 🙂 & Tumblr steady at 214 – it would be much more but I block any hetero-porn sites that follow me. Also a nice jump in WP hits that started when I stopped the auto link to Tumblr & replaced it with Google+.

Speaking of Tumblr with the new ‘adult content’ standards – it seems lots of nude picture posters have abandoned ship, some gone to twitter  (until twitter enforces those standards I guess) – those that remain are still as explicit as ever – so I’m not sure what is going on there. I’m still having to block hetero sex/dating sites from following me.

For January I’ll be back to posting Coal Dusters, new pieces prompted by the 227 Rules For Monks & rambling on about poems I have written. I enjoyed the Christmas stuff I was writing & will make that a new tradition for every December. The response was very positive for it but even if it wasn’t I’d do it anyway 🙂 Monday: my music collection; Tuesday: Coal Dusters; Wednesday: poetry chat; Thursday: Rules; Friday: inspirations, Disability After Dark or whatever. Saturdays will be for the occasional reviews of books, poetry shows.

Speaking of shows Hot Damn!’s January 10th show will feature Capturing Fire founder Regie Cabico. This will be a high-energy set that will leave you both shocked & grateful – plus a workshop in the afternoon. Hopefully he’ll confirm the dates for Capturing Fire 2019 so I can plan what to wear to DC this year 🙂

October 2018 Sneak Peek

Before I look forward here’s some stats for September. My Twitter following is up to 209 – not all of whom are book cover designers or internet marketing specialists. Tumblr is up to 208 – it would be higher but I block the frequent hetero porn sights that follow me – oddly I don’t get that sort of queer porn spam. I’ve been posting daily photo set at Tumblr for the last several weeks & will probably keep it up to the end of October.
I’ve been on WordPress for 7 years now & have built up to 273 followers, after 1425 posts. Chances are good I’ll hit 280 by the end of the year. I hope to wake up one morning to find one of my posts has gone viral.

Coal Dusters is moving along nicely. I’ve been taking my time to edit each new chapter & have been expanding them with more period detail & in one case a more colourful physical description, even creating whole new scenes to add to atmosphere. I’ve blogged approx 48,000 words so far with at least another 67,000 to go.

Coming up in October on the blog Tuesday & Wednesday will be devoted to scary poems. Tuesdays will fresh blood, while Wednesday I’ll discuss last October’s fresh blood poems. Friday I’ll post about my favorite horror writers & how they inspired me. Mondays will remain music, Tuesday Coal Dusters continues.

I’ll be going to Toronto Gratitude’s 40th Anniversary October 5/6/7. I haven’t been to the round up for a couple of years now but considering that I was at the very first one it’s fitting I make an appearance. I’ll be staying at downtown hotel so I can enjoy the event without the stress of transit. I’ll also be taking in my last Stratford show of the season later in the month: Paradise Lost.
